4 APD officers injured, one “crucial” after being shot in NE Albuquerque; two suspects arrested

The shots came while officers were responding to a robbery. The injured officers were transported to the UNM hospital.

An officer was shot over his bulletproof vest and operated on in critical condition. Another officer undergoes surgery after being shot in the arm. According to police, a third officer was shot in the middle of his bulletproof vest and another officer was injured by splinters or broken glass.

The police have set up an evidence portal for all public submissions.

Manzano High School and Jackson and Kennedy Middle Schools as well as Tomasita, McCollum and Chelwood elementary schools were housed in an emergency shelter for around two hours on Thursday. The on-site placement orders were lifted at 12:27 p.m.

Authorities from Sandoval County, Valencia County, Rio Rancho County, FBI, BCSO and the state police were called for assistance.
