Albuquerque Metropolis Council is contemplating bringing the specific vans again

A new regulation would pave the way for speed cameras. Those caught on camera can get a civil ticket up to $ 100.

“You are being checked,” said Bassan. “So everyone who comes in who crosses the speed limit will have a picture taken. They’ll come into the computer system and someone will monitor it.”

City officials said they are considering issuing tickets for drivers traveling 10 miles above the speed limit, but there is still much to be discussed.

Legislation is currently in the joint submission phase. The first meeting took place on Thursday via Zoom.

There will be two more face-to-face meetings of the congregation. It will then go to a council committee and eventually to the entire city council.

The officials assume this will be done by September.

The city invites the public to participate in the following meetings:

  • Monday, August 12th Headquarters & Our City Library, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 17 Palo Duro Senior Center, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
