Barb Wire Dolls Promise To Wake The Youth On Warped Tour »Albuquerque Journal
Greece’s Barb Wire Dolls are ready to take on the world and bring their music to the masses on the Skullcandy stage of the Vans Warped Tour.
“We’ll wake up the youth and introduce them to what real rock’n’roll is,” front woman Isis Queen said in an email interview with the Journal. “You’ve been brainwashed to hear crap music on the radio for a decade. So get ready for a wild ride into the future of music!”
The band’s originality and reality force fans and the music industry to look for something real and raw when it comes to their grunge punk rock.
“People need real music that is as loud and snotty as they are,” said Queen. “People have feelings that need to be expressed, and we have the new soundtrack for their lives.”
The band takes a lot from their audience when it comes to their music.
“We’re all untrained musicians, and only as a unit are we really powerful and creative,” said Queen. “Our inspiration comes directly from the people we meet at shows and we are all one. So why not act like that? In unity there is power, in power there is change, and with change comes freedom. This is what we are all looking for in the end! “
Rock legend and Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister awarded Barb Wire Dolls the greatest seal of approval before his death in 2015. In addition to Motörhead, Barb Wire Dolls was the first to be signed to his Motörhead Music label.
“It totally changed everything!” Queen said. “Lemmy is rock and roll and he’s seen thousands of bands in his five decades-long career. So when he sees us live and tells us we’re the next generation, that’s mind blowing. He was disgusted with the current state of music, just as we were, and for him to sign us to his label and be the very first non-Motörhead release, this is the highest award and achievement of which a real one Rock band could ever dream of. If Lemmy approves of your band, that’s the high point. “
The band’s album “Desperate”, released by Motörhead Music in 2016, continues to be very well received. The band will release their new album “Rub My Mind” on July 7th. It was recorded in the legendary Joshua Tree, California studio where Stone Age Queens, Eagles of Death Metal, Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters and others have made albums, according to Queen.
Kilmister’s wisdoms still resonate with the band.
“No compromises,” said Queen, Kilmister told the band. “Have principles. Stay tough. Share what you have. Don’t change for anyone or anything. Be true to yourself and your music. Always give 100 percent on every show. Lemmy’s words still echoed in my brain, coming from his authoritative, beautiful mouth. “
