Inside Look: Mass Vaccination Clinic at Expo New Mexico

Before the doors opened on Saturday morning in the Dairy Barn at Expo New Mexico, employees wiped tables and prepared the vaccination stations.

“It takes amazing collaboration and communication between us as a state,” said Goldie Yandle of the Premier Medical Group.

Yandle said they are ready to give up to 1,000 vaccinations each day and the demand for vaccines is currently increasing. Thanks to new variants and expanded eligibility for children between the ages of 5 and 11, the state has issued 76,000 cans in the last 7 days.

“If you are indoors, even if you are 2 meters away, washing your hands and masking the spread of virus no matter what you do, it will happen. We have seen a slight increase in positive cases, which of course will have a direct impact on our increase in the demand and need for vaccinations, ”said Yandle.

Yandle said one of the reasons they hold this event is because some people have difficulty making a vaccination appointment.

“Finding availability is hard to come by. I know there are pharmacies out there and doctors’ offices, but they have limited vaccines supply and time while we are able to supply them.” a greater capacity, a greater number of vaccines. “

The vaccination clinic at Expo New Mexico is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and runs through Monday, December 20.

Walk-ins are welcome, but you are encouraged to register on the state website.
