Juniteenth: Albuquerque celebrates public vacation with a 3-day Downtown Competition

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Juneteenth has brought food, live music and dancing to the Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque. More than 3,000 people signed up for this year’s celebration and the organizers called it a success.

June 10th, today’s federal holiday, was first celebrated in Texas in 1866. It commemorates the official end of slavery in the USA
