Las Vegas growth: New resorts with 4,000 further rooms
Las Vegas is making strides in opening new resorts on the Strip that were planned long before the coronavirus pandemic.
Circa, a complex that takes up an entire block along the Fremont Street Experience, plans to open restaurants in October and rooms in December.
Construction cranes are busy five miles south at Resorts World on Las Vegas Boulevard. The 3,500-room project, which was built on the site of the famous Stardust Hotel-Casino, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2021.
Together, the projects bring more than 4,000 new hotel rooms to Vegas.
“A lot of people came into the city center and said: ‘[We] I wish there was a better room product, ”said Derek Stevens, owner of Circa, who runs the D and the Golden Gate. “So with Circa we really tried to make sure we had better standard rooms and a lot more suites.”
The 35-story Circa Resort is under construction in Las Vegas.
The plan is to open five restaurants on the first five floors on October 28, two months before the property’s 777 hotel rooms open. Around will be the first new hotel in the city center in 40 years. The 458 foot tall, tapered tower rises above neighboring properties.

Reservations for the opening evening on December 28th are now possible. Standard rooms, which are between 402 and 752 square feet, start at $ 299 per night with a two night minimum. Rates rise to $ 799 per night on New Years weekend, with a minimum of three nights. These rates don’t include a nightly resort fee of nearly $ 34.
In allusion to the up-and-coming downtown art scene, Circa will show works by local artists. Guest rooms feature quirky wall art by Jelaine Faunce in homage to the dance vendors who once entertained Vegas visitors.
Bookings for Circas sports betting are now also possible for sessions from October 28th. “[It is] The first ever three-story sportsbook, the largest screen, the most seating, ”said Stevens.
The adult-only multi-level swimming pool complex, Stadium Swim, is open year round. “When you think of this tiered outdoor pool amphitheater with six pools and multiple spas,” he said, “there really has never been anything built like this.”
Resorts World is being built on land that once housed the famous Stardust Hotel-Casino.
The US $ 4.3 billion Resorts World, which has not yet opened, showed lively virtual fireworks from July 4th on a 100,000 square meter video screen. The 294 x 340 foot display is on the strip side of the West Tower and contains more than 3,500 LED panels.
