Native Residents Counseled For Donations To Residential Fund, Albuquerque Journal

Mayor Tim Keller, the Department of Family and Community Services, and the Supportive Housing Coalition thanked area residents Tuesday for their online donations to the One Albuquerque Housing Fund, which enabled them to house two formerly homeless people.

The city used the donations to pay application fees, security deposits and two months’ rent for two people who have been chronically homeless for nearly a decade and now live in apartments where they receive support services, city officials said in a press release.

The city made the initial payment of $ 8,000 to the Supportive Housing Coalition, which provides aid and services to end homelessness.

The coalition provides affordable, permanent, supportive housing to individuals and families in New Mexico.

The housing fund has raised more than $ 17,000 since its inception.

“… It’s called One Albuquerque Housing Fund for a reason: We can’t do it without all of the people in our town who see these orange signs and decide to make a difference with a donation,” said Keller.
