New Mexico Comedian Expo is underway in Albuquerque

You might see some very interesting costumes downtown for the New Mexico Comic Expo this weekend. It will be one of the biggest weekend events of the summer. This includes more than 60 celebrities and almost 200 vendors and artists. Actually different from anything we’ve done before, ”said Teresa Ewers, spokeswoman for the New Mexico Comic Expo. The goal of the first annual event is: Go big! “We think it’s time for New Mexico to have a real comic book convention that is big, A- List celebrities you see in all these other cities”, said Ewers. One thing that’s always popular at these events – cosplay – people dressing up as their favorite superhero or villain. “Just looking forward to something on this scale. Finally got to Albuquerque,” said event attendant Chris Molony. It’s also a big economic boom for Duke City. “We even walked in, saw the traffic, it’s just a great thing to see and do business too. The city is really important,” said atte ndee Lauren Barreca said : It’s also a chance for local talent like Albuquerque artist Andrew Sanchez to shine: “This isn’t just for nerds or kids who live in basements with their mothers and things like that. It’s a really big part of a culture that doesn’t just come from movies but pick up a book and read it. It’s amazing to be here, ”said Sanchez. Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said with all of the movies and television series being made in New Mexico now, it is the perfect time for an event like this one of our local comic book writers, who do very well nationally, are actually part of it our growing creative economy, ”said Keller. Keller, who has recognized that he resembles actor Aaron Eckhart, made his best Harvey Dent impression. “It’s my best Halloween costume, so when I’m clean-shaven it works pretty well,” said Keller. Keller also declared Friday New Mexico Comic Expo Day. This celebrity attendance list is actually pretty impressive. Jason Momoa and Elijah Wood are just a few.
