New Mexico stories 16 new deaths, 1,611 further COVID-19 circumstances

  • A man in Taos County in his 90s. The person had previous illnesses and was living in the Taos Retirement Village in Taos.

One death> 30 days:

  • A woman in her 40s from Socorro County. The person had framework conditions.

The death toll of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 5,101.

In addition to the deaths, the state reported 1,611 other COVID-19 cases. As of Thursday, New Mexico has reported a total of 281,282 cases.

“We should be very concerned about this sample size,” said Dr. Laura Parajon, the deputy secretary of the NMDOH. “It’s very, very high, it just means we have really high transmission of COVID across the state right now.”

On Thursday, 460 people were hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19.

There are 246,324 COVID-19 cases classified as recovered by the NMDOH.

“At this point, it’s really up to us,” said Dr. Parajon. “It’s really up to our community to say, ‘Look, we have to help save lives, we have to help stop the spread of COVID.

Regarding the holidays, Dr. Parajon that the state health department will issue guidelines for Thanksgiving.

“If you are vaccinated and you wear a mask indoors, you will really reduce this transmission,” said Dr. Parajon.
