The Twinkle Gentle Parade kicks off in Albuquerque on Saturday

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – One of Albuquerque’s most noticeable vacation events is back after last year’s hiatus due to the pandemic. The Twinkle Light Parade returns to Nob Hill on December 4th.

The city says there are no major changes this year. There are 102 registrations for this year’s event and the city will have approximately 3.00 people in the parade. Visitors are encouraged to find a spot early to watch the parade.

Jessie Brown and her family have been in the Twinkle Light Parade for 10 years. She is glad that it is such a recurring tradition in her children’s lives. “I know my children will remember them for the rest of their lives, and these are the memories we love to make with our family and all of our friends,” said Brown.

For the first few years, she said they had a simpler idea for their car. However, as the years went on, the decorations got more elaborate, saying it would take them a month and a half to prep the cart. “This event is a great time for you to get together with all of your friends. That’s what we do, meet up with all of our friends and decorate a car and make it as crazy and wild as we want it to be and we just have a great time, ”said Brown.

Brown said this year will be special for all attendees as many people will be able to celebrate the holiday season with their families this year. “I think it’s just wonderful to get back together. We really missed that connection, especially during the holidays, ”said Brown. “It’s so great to see the smiling faces of everyone in the audience.”

The parade heads west on Central Avenue through Nob Hill from Washington St. to Girard Blvd. The headquarters will be closed to traffic from 3 p.m. in preparation for the parade. The event starts at 5.15 p.m.
